Pancreatitis and Pancreatic Cancer
GLP-1 receptor agonists have been associated with acute pancreatitis and elevated amylase levels. There are concerns about pancreatic cancer risk with chronic GLP-1 use.
Users were not adequately warned about pancreatitis risk or recommendations to monitor pancreatic function.
Inadequate Warning
The warning label for Wegovy did not adequately emphasize thyroid cancer risk or the animal study findings. Warnings about pancreatitis were not sufficiently prominent.
Adequate warnings would have informed users about animal thyroid tumors and recommended thyroid monitoring.
